ABUJA, Nigeria – International education consultancy UNIPASS has launched its Nigeria office, unveiling plans to broaden access to global study opportunities while positioning Nigeria as an emerging destination for international students.
Speaking at the launch in Abuja, Chief Executive Officer Alvin Atsegwasi said UNIPASS is introducing a transparent and accountable system to guide young Nigerians seeking foreign education. He added that the organisation would prioritise vulnerable groups through targeted scholarship schemes, including programmes specifically designed for persons with disabilities.
“At UNIPASS, we believe every learner deserves a fair pathway to global education,” Atsegwasi said. He encouraged Nigerian students studying abroad to contribute their expertise towards national development, noting that the organisation’s decade-long experience in the United Kingdom had shaped its accountability model.
Atsegwasi also highlighted growing partnerships with Nigerian institutions, including the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, describing such collaborations as essential to strengthening Nigeria’s competitiveness as an academic hub.
Co-founder Sanpreet Sehmi reaffirmed UNIPASS’ commitment to equal access, announcing the institution’s first African partnership with the Balami University. “This partnership proves that world-class standards can be created and sustained locally,” she said.
Executive Director Maureen Mutsiya described the new Abuja office as a gateway for students navigating international admissions. She revealed that UNIPASS has assisted more than 1,200 students in securing placements in countries such as Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, Ireland and Germany.
The launch drew dignitaries from government and academia, including Dr Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, and Isaac Balami, founder of the Balami University of Aeronautics and Management.
