ABUJA, Nigeria – Dangote Group has begun its 2025 Sustainability Week, reaffirming its commitment to empowering host communities through programmes that strengthen health, education, enterprise and environmental responsibility.
The initiative, themed “Sustainable Progress: Celebrating Growth and Partnerships,” runs across multiple states and features vocational training workshops, health outreach, entrepreneurship mentorship, environmental clean-ups and youth sporting activities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on Thursday, Plant Director, Azad Nawabuddin, said the programme reflects Dangote Cement’s long-term investment in “human capital and shared growth.”
“We believe sustainability is not an event—it is a continuous commitment to improving lives,” he said. “When communities grow, businesses grow.”
Local entrepreneurs and young people will receive business advisory support aimed at improving operational resilience, market visibility and income stability. Health professionals will also offer screenings and awareness sessions targeting preventable illnesses.
Community beneficiaries praised the initiative as timely, especially amid rising living costs and increasing youth unemployment.
A mentorship participant, Aisha Ahmed, said: “This workshop gave me the confidence and skills to expand my small business.”
The company said the Sustainability Week aligns with its broader Social Performance Strategy focused on partnership, inclusive development and long-term local value creation.
