Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq and rescued kidnap victims in Ilorin
KWARA, Nigeria – Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has praised the Nigerian Army for rescuing 23 kidnapped persons during recent clearance operations across forested communities in the state.
The freed victims were received on Tuesday at the 22 Armoured Brigade Headquarters, Sobi, Ilorin. AbdulRazaq thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security operatives for what he described as a coordinated offensive against criminal networks.
“We thank God for your safe return. This government will support your full rehabilitation,” the governor said. He added that sustained military pressure had “dislodged kidnappers from their hideouts.”
“As stated by the Brigade Commander, it is either they quit Kwara or face the consequences. Kwara remains a state of harmony,” he declared.
Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, said troops would maintain aggressive ground and intelligence operations. “The order is clear — criminals must leave or be neutralised,” he said.
One of the rescued victims, Pastor Obafemi, described the captivity as horrifying. “We thank the governor and the army. May God strengthen them to continue this mission,” he said.
