KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected bandits and intensified security operations across the state, particularly in Makoda Local Government Area, as part of renewed efforts to curb criminal activities.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori disclosed this in a statement on Saturday through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
Bakori said the suspects were arrested around 2:00 a.m. on Friday during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division, acting on credible intelligence from residents of the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono LGA.
“The vigilance and cooperation of the Farin Ruwa community played a crucial role in the success of the operation,” the police commissioner said. “We urge residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movement to security agencies.”
He explained that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were allegedly working with a syndicate of armed bandits attempting to infiltrate the state.
In a related development, the police have engaged key community leaders and stakeholders to address recurring clashes between herders and farmers in Barebari Ward, Makoda LGA.
A peace meeting chaired by Area Commander of Dambatta, ACP Mohammed Mani Gwarzo, and a follow-up session presided over by CP Bakori at the Command Headquarters, were held to find lasting solutions to the crisis.
“The Command remains committed to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring Kano State remains safe for all,” Bakori added.
He reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to sustain operations against criminal networks while urging continued public cooperation and intelligence sharing to enhance safety across the state.
