ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dust haze, thunderstorms and rainfall across different parts of the country from Friday to Sunday, urging residents to take precautions against strong winds, suspended dust particles and lightning.
In its three-day weather outlook released in Abuja on Thursday, the agency predicted slight dust haze over most parts of the North, with moderate haze expected in Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi and Kaduna states. For Friday, NiMet forecast isolated thunderstorms with light rainfall over parts of Taraba State in the afternoon or evening.
The North-Central region is expected to experience sunny skies with patches of clouds, while isolated thunderstorms and light rain are likely over parts of Kogi, Kwara, the Federal Capital Territory and Benue State later in the day. “Airline operators are advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning of their operations. “Residents are to stay informed through weather updates on NiMet’s website,” the agency said.
