ABUJA, Nigeria – The University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom have launched two joint postgraduate programmes in artificial intelligence and digital media, in a partnership aimed at expanding access to international-standard education for Nigerian students.
In a statement on Saturday, the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Technologies and the MA in Digital Media and Communications are scheduled to begin in September 2027. The programmes were launched in collaboration with the Federal Government, represented by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa. Today, we have transnational education in action, with one of the world’s leading universities partnering with one of Nigeria’s best universities to bring international-standard education to our country. This is a first for Nigeria and the beginning of many more to come,” Alausa said.
The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Technologies will cover areas including machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, large language models, data management and artificial intelligence ethics.
