OGUN, Nigeria – The Ogun State Government says it will distribute agricultural inputs and machinery to farmers as part of its 2026 World Food Day activities, in an initiative aimed at improving farm productivity and strengthening food security.
The celebration is scheduled for Friday, 16 October, at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, under the theme, “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.”
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo, announced the planned distribution in a statement, saying the event would highlight the role of innovation in boosting food production and improving access to affordable, safe and nutritious food.
Owotomo said the farm inputs and machinery would support farmers to increase production and expand agricultural output. Smartphones will also be presented to beneficiaries of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme to improve their access to agricultural information and digital services.
The event will feature an agricultural exhibition bringing together farmers, agribusiness operators, development partners and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration, investment and sustainable food production.
According to the commissioner, discussions and displays will focus on strengthening different stages of the agricultural value chain, from production to processing and distribution.
