ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after a 96-hour disruption, urging tertiary institutions to accelerate the 2026/2027 admission process and meet approved deadlines.
JAMB said CAPS was fully restored and operational on Sunday, September 27, 2026, after being temporarily unavailable due to an administrative challenge involving its hosting organisation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Board apologised for the disruption and urged institutions to recover the time lost during the outage. JAMB said institutions must comply with admission timelines agreed at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions.
Under the approved schedule, admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are to be concluded by: Public universities: October 31, 2026, Private universities: November 30, 2026, and Other tertiary institutions: December 31, 2026
JAMB said the October 31 deadline for public universities remained in place and urged universities to intensify admission processing following the release of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination results by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Private universities were similarly urged to work towards the November 30 deadline, while other tertiary institutions are expected to complete admissions by the end of December.
The Board also advised candidates awaiting admission to promptly accept offers made to them through CAPS.
Candidates who recently obtained their NECO results were urged to upload or verify their results to ensure their credentials are available for consideration as institutions accelerate admission processing.
JAMB assured institutions that it would match their accelerated pace by promptly considering and approving admission recommendations submitted through CAPS.
The Board said it was also implementing measures to strengthen the platform’s resilience, stability and reliability.
