ABUJA, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has lifted its previous ban on SIM swapping and email changes for candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts.
The revised process takes effect from Monday, September 21, 2026, but candidates can use the service only once.
JAMB said the new arrangement followed the introduction of stronger identity and biometric verification measures designed to prevent impersonation, fraud and unauthorised changes to candidates’ records.
The Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin on Monday, said the facility was introduced to assist genuine candidates who could no longer access their registered GSM numbers or recover their email accounts.
“The SIM swap and/or email change service shall be available only once,” Benjamin said.
Under the revised process, candidates can request a change to their GSM number, email address or both.
However, applications must be processed at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including State Offices where applicable.
Candidates are required to provide their new GSM number and/or email address and a duly executed court affidavit, which must be scanned and ready for upload.
To begin the process, candidates must log into their JAMB e-Facility profile using their existing credentials, including their registered email address, registration number or profile code.
They are then required to select the “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment” option and pay the prescribed fee before proceeding to an approved JAMB CBT centre.
They must then undergo biometric verification before selecting whether they want to change their GSM number, email address or both.
Candidates will enter their new contact details, upload the scanned court affidavit and submit the request.
