EBONYI, Nigeria – The Ebonyi State Government has fixed Monday, September 7, 2026, as the official resumption date for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session across all approved public, private and faith-based nursery, primary and secondary schools in the state.
The directive, announced by the Commissioner for Education (Primary and Secondary), Dr. Donatus Ilang on Saturday, applies to schools across the state’s 13 local government areas.
According to the ministry, principals, teachers and non-teaching staff are expected to report to duty on Monday, while boarding students are to return to their hostels on Sunday, September 6, to prepare for the new term.
Parents and guardians were urged to ensure that their children resume promptly and are properly dressed in approved school uniforms and meet all academic requirements for the session.
The ministry also directed proprietors of private schools to comply fully with the approved state school calendar, the national curriculum and all operational guidelines issued by the government.
To ensure strict adherence, the state government said monitoring teams would be deployed to schools across Ebonyi from the first day of resumption to enforce compliance.
