Amed Bola Tinubu
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze and approved the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of another allegedly unauthorised agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The directive followed a briefing by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which uncovered the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office allegedly operating from the SGF complex without presidential approval.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed the development on Friday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Aliyu, the discovery emerged during the commission’s ongoing investigation into the previously exposed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), another entity found to have operated without lawful authorisation.
He said investigations revealed that the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office had been allocated office space within the SGF premises despite lacking presidential approval for its establishment.
The ICPC identified Prince George Buchi Nwabueze as the alleged promoter of the office and said preliminary findings suggested that some officials within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation may have facilitated its operations.
Following the briefing, President Tinubu directed the immediate arrest of Nwabueze to aid ongoing investigations.
The President also approved the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries—M. S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah—pending the outcome of further investigations into the matter.
Aliyu said the commission would continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the establishment and operations of the alleged unauthorised office, including identifying any public officials who may have aided its activities.
