ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 12 suspects linked to the robbery that killed Arise TV staff Somtochukwu Maduagwu and security guard Barnabas Danlami at Unique Apartment, Gishiri Village, Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police ordered a full-scale operation after the September 29 attack. The Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Godfrey, used forensic and digital intelligence to track the gang.
Among those arrested are Shamsudeen Hassan, Abubakar Alkamu, and Sani Sirajo, who confessed to their roles. Hassan admitted shooting the guard, while Sirajo said he tried to prevent Maduagwu’s fall from a three-storey building.
Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, 36 rounds of ammunition, pistols, cutlasses, phones, and the victims’ stolen Honda CR-V.
FCT police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh confirmed that all suspects are in custody. “We’ve made significant progress; investigations continue to apprehend fleeing accomplices,” the statement read.
The arrests followed weeks of coordinated tracking and intelligence analysis by EIB Stratoc’s Giga Forensics team.
The FCT Police say the suspects will face murder and armed robbery charges after prosecution concludes.
