Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji
ADO EKITI, Nigeria – The Ekiti climate stations project receives a major boost after Governor Biodun Oyebanji approves the installation of three agro-meteorological stations to improve climate monitoring, strengthen livestock production and provide farmers with real-time weather information for better decision-making across the state.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Ebenezer Boluwade, announces the development in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the stations will be located at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Complex in Ado Ekiti, the State Agricultural Development Programme Complex in Ikole Ekiti, and the Faculty of Agriculture at Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology in Ikere Ekiti.
According to Boluwade, the three locations are strategically selected to cover Ekiti’s major agro-ecological zones—Savannah, Derived Savannah and Forest—allowing for broader climate observation, agricultural planning and scientific research.
“The data generated from the stations will give livestock farmers, extension officers, veterinary professionals, researchers and policymakers reliable climate intelligence to support livestock production, pasture management, water resource use, disease surveillance and climate risk management,” Boluwade says.
