IBADAN, Nigeria – Security operatives have launched a massive rescue operation following the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims, identified as Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her children, were reportedly kidnapped by armed men on Wednesday morning while travelling within the state capital.
Confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said tactical units and intelligence teams had been deployed to track down the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.
“The command has deployed all necessary resources toward rescuing the victims and tracking down the suspects responsible for the crime,” Ayanlade stated.
Police said the Commissioner of Police immediately mobilised officers from the Challenge Division and specialised units following reports of the attack.
Investigators have since recovered the victim’s vehicle as efforts intensify to locate the abductors.
According to a media aide to the former minister, Femi Awogboro, the victims were attacked around 7:30 a.m. while the mother was taking her twin sons to school.
“The attackers intercepted them and forcefully whisked them away,” Awogboro said.
He described the incident as traumatic and appealed for prayers and support for the family.
The latest kidnapping has renewed concerns over growing insecurity and abduction cases across parts of Oyo State, despite ongoing security operations.
