ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 63-year-old Chinese national, Ting Hung Kiong, for allegedly attempting to smuggle 31 kilograms of synthetic cannabis into Nigeria through Lagos airport.
NDLEA says the suspect, who is naturalised in Malaysia, was intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport after arriving from Thailand through Dubai aboard an Emirates flight.
Officials say two travel boxes containing “Canadian Loud”, a potent synthetic cannabis strain, were recovered from her luggage.
Investigators reveal the suspect travelled from Malaysia to Thailand before proceeding to Nigeria through the United Arab Emirates.
The agency also announces the seizure of 1.8 million tablets of Tapentadol worth more than N2.19 billion at the Lagos airport cargo terminal.
Additional arrests were recorded at airports in Enugu and Abuja involving cocaine, tramadol and other narcotics concealed in luggage and courier packages bound for Europe and the United States.

Another 489 kilograms of skunk and cannabis seeds were seized in Edo State, while officers intercepted 196,000 pills of Exol-5 along the Zaria-Kano road.
