LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has donated bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the Lagos State Task Force to strengthen officer safety and improve law enforcement operations across the state.
The protective equipment was presented on Monday by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, during a visit to the Task Force headquarters in Oshodi.
Ogunsan, accompanied by the Director of Administration, Adegbola Lewis, also inspected operational units and personnel dormitories to assess welfare conditions and operational needs.
“The anti-riot equipment is intended to improve personnel readiness and ensure effective management of protests, civil disturbances and other emergency situations,” Ogunsan said.
He explained that the intervention forms part of LSSTF’s mandate to support security agencies with operational tools, logistics and training needed to maintain law and order in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
According to him, the new equipment will enhance the capacity of operatives to respond to criminal activities, traffic enforcement challenges and public disturbances while protecting both officers and residents.
Receiving the items, Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, Adetayo Akerele, described the donation as timely and strategic.
“This gesture will significantly improve the efficiency, morale and safety of our operatives,” Akerele said.
He assured the Trust Fund that the protective gear would be deployed immediately for field operations, especially in high-risk assignments involving anti-encroachment exercises and enforcement activities.
Established through a public-private partnership, the LSSTF has supported security operations in Lagos for years through donations of patrol vehicles, communication gadgets and surveillance equipment.
