LAGOS, Nigeria – Campaign Against Pedophilia Africa will host a public awareness forum in Lagos on May 22 aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and strengthening safeguarding systems in schools and communities.
Organisers say the initiative will educate children, parents, caregivers and teachers on recognising abuse warning signs and responding effectively to threats posed by sexual predators.
Executive Director of CAPA, Wole Olarinde, said the programme was designed to reduce children’s vulnerability through structured sensitisation and prevention education.
“The programmes are designed to educate innocent children on how to identify, guard against, prevent, and protect themselves from falling victim to sexual predators whose activities have become increasingly alarming,” Olarinde said.
He noted that the organisation had intensified child protection campaigns in schools and youth-focused community platforms, stressing that early awareness remains critical in preventing abuse.
According to the organisers, the forum will feature presentations on personal safety, abuse red flags and practical escape strategies for children and caregivers.
Among featured speakers are Dele Oyeleru, who will deliver a lecture titled “Upholding Purity Amid the Pedophilia Threat,” and Funmi Ademola, whose session focuses on “Pedophilia Threats: The Red Flags and Escape Routes.”
