A devastating factory fire broke out at Imperio International in Ikeja, Lagos, but the swift intervention by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service saved the day.
The blaze damaged goods, including body spray, perfumes, and creams, and partially affected the twin warehouse block.
According to Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, the inferno was confined, preventing further spread to the rear twin warehouse block used for production.
This timely intervention averted a potentially catastrophic outcome due to the volatile nature of stored raw materials and equipment.
“This was consequent upon prevention of further spread to the rear twin warehouse block used for production which incident could have been more devastating due to the volatility of raw materials and equipment storage as well as factory personnel it houses.
“The Fire was brought under control a few hours into the midnight, and it is still being salvaged with dampening down of embers from the remains of salvaged goods as the operations moved to the recovery stage to allow for mop up exercise of the premises,” Adeseye said
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service’s prompt response and expertise prevented what could have been a disastrous outcome, minimizing damage and ensuring the safety of personnel and surrounding property.
Adeseye stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
