NDLEA Urges Vigilance as Agency Uncovers Attempts to Smuggle Drug to UK in Food Parcels

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a strong warning to travelers and the general public following their interception of efforts to smuggle illegal drugs into the United Kingdom using food items such as tiger nuts and groundnuts.

The NDLEA reported that traffickers hid the drugs within packages of tiger nuts and bags of groundnuts discovered on a bus.

Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the agency, highlighted the necessity of examining packages prior to their acceptance.

In a statement shared on social media platform X on Sunday, he cautioned, “Again, always refuse any package during your travels, regardless of how authentic it appears, unless you’ve thoroughly inspected it.”

The find emphasizes NDLEA’s continual commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks that employ unusual concealment techniques. Babafemi released videos showcasing the officers’ operations, reinforcing the agency’s dedication to maintaining a drug-free Nigeria.
