Army to Investigate Alleged Killing of 3 Locals, 100 Cattle in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has announced an investigation into allegations that its troops killed three people and 100 cattle during an operation in Sabon Birni, Kaduna State.

The disturbing reports, which include graphic images and video footage, have prompted Major General Onyema Nwachukwu to address the issue publicly.

In a statement released on Thursday, Nwachukwu expressed condolences to the affected families and the community of Sabon Birni. “The Nigerian Army deeply sympathises with the community and families involved,” Nwachukwu stated.

He emphasised that any personnel found responsible for wrongdoing will face appropriate sanctions.

Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja has directed a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations to determine both immediate and underlying causes of the incident. “The Army is committed to protecting the lives and property of our citizens and will not tolerate any deviation from this mandate,” Nwachukwu added.

The Nigerian Army has urged the public to remain calm as the investigation proceeds, assuring that the findings will be disclosed once concluded.
