ILORIN, Nigeria – The Kwara State Government orders immediate repairs at the Children’s Specialist Hospital, Centre Igboro, after a rainstorm damages key sections of the facility, raising concerns over patient safety.
Officials from the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, led by Executive Secretary Abdulraheem Malik, on Friday conducted an emergency inspection and confirmed structural damage to roofs, windows and critical care areas.
The government approves urgent rehabilitation, with repair work already underway to restore full operations.
Authorities say essential services continue, with contingency measures in place to minimise disruption for mothers and children relying on the hospital.
“We are prioritising swift intervention to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery,” a board official says.
Inspection teams focus on high-risk units, including the emergency paediatric ward, where storm impact is most severe.
The state government reiterates its commitment to maintaining safe healthcare infrastructure, stressing that rapid response is vital to protect patients and staff.
