JOS, Nigeria – Vice President Kashim Shettima presides over the graduation ceremony of Senior Executive Course 47 (2025) at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, reinforcing the Tinubu administration’s focus on policy-driven development.
Shettima arrives in Jos on Saturday and receives a warm welcome from Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and NIPSS Director-General Prof. Ayo Omotayo, underscoring strong federal-state collaboration.
His participation highlights the government’s resolve to translate strategic research into action, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to ministries, departments and agencies to review and adopt NIPSS recommendations—particularly those related to advancing Nigeria’s blue economy.
The vice president’s role as chairman of the ceremony signals renewed emphasis on leveraging maritime resources for economic diversification, job creation and sustainable growth.
Officials say the administration views the blue economy as a critical pillar for reducing dependence on oil revenue while strengthening regional trade and environmental sustainability.
NIPSS, located outside Jos, remains Nigeria’s foremost policy think tank, providing strategic training and advisory services to senior public servants, security officials and private sector leaders from across Nigeria and the African continent.
The graduation of Course 47 participants mark another milestone in the institute’s mandate to groom leaders capable of responding to complex national and global challenges.
Observers note that the presence of the vice president reinforces the administration’s commitment to evidence-based governance and the practical application of policy research.
