LAGOS, Nigeria – The Iyana-Odo community in Isheri, Lagos, received free medical services on Tuesday as the Beulah World Initiative (BWI), in partnership with the Aramide Agbetoye Foundation, conducted a large-scale outreach offering consultations, screenings and essential medications.
BWI Founder, Ms Chichi Ononiwu, said the initiative targets underserved families who rarely seek medical care due to financial challenges. “Today’s outreach has been very impactful because we have attended to over 350 people,” she said, adding that several residents presented dangerously high blood pressure and required urgent intervention.
Chairman of the foundation, Pastor Kayode Agbetoye, said the event was held in honour of his late wife, Deaconess Aramide Agbetoye. “One of the things Late Mrs Agbetoye loved doing was taking care of elderly people,” he said.
Medical researcher Mr Theophilus Nang said screenings covered prostate cancer, malaria and blood sugar. “We have been giving free medication and food items to the elderly,” he added, urging residents to adopt good hygiene practices to prevent common illnesses.
Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude. Mrs Hope Akogun said she discovered she had high blood pressure only after being tested at the outreach. “I’m happy I came because I received BP medication and even reading glasses,” she said.
Another resident, Mr Kehinde Ibrahim, praised the organisations for their compassion and commitment to community health. BWI also distributed food and relief items, reinforcing its mission to support vulnerable communities through healthcare and empowerment programmes.
