RIVERS, Nigeria – The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has confirmed the death of one of its surgical residents, Dr Femi Rotifa, describing it as a painful loss to the medical community.
In a statement on Monday, RSUTH said Rotifa was a dedicated physician in the Department of Surgery, admired for his compassion and professionalism.
“We are heartbroken by the untimely demise of Dr Femi Rotifa,” the hospital said. “His commitment to patient care and camaraderie with colleagues will never be forgotten.”
The hospital said support services have been made available to grieving staff and extended condolences to his family and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Rivers State branch.
“RSUTH has lost a bright light, and the Nigerian medical profession has lost a talent of great promise,” the statement added.
