ABUJA, Nigeria – The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the arrest of nine individuals accused of masterminding recent mass killings in Benue and Plateau States, intensifying federal efforts to curb spiralling insecurity.
In a statement released late Wednesday, the DSS confirmed that the suspects were arraigned in connection with coordinated attacks that left scores dead and thousands displaced across the two states.
Security officials said a suspected gunrunner was also apprehended with seven M16 rifles believed to have supplied weapons used in the violence.
