The Kano State Police Command, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, convened a crucial town-hall security meeting in Rogo Local Government Area as part of its commitment to strengthening community-based security and addressing emerging threats.

Held at the Islamic Centre in Rogo town, the meeting was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, and brought together a broad coalition of stakeholders, including the Chairman of Rogo LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha; the District Head of Rogo, Dan Isan Karaye, Alhaji Garba Bello; traditional rulers, youth leaders, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and representatives from the Military, NSCDC, Immigration, FRSC, vigilante groups, and hunters.

The town-hall was in response to recent concerns over rising threats of kidnapping and criminal activity in Rogo—a border community flanked by the volatile Dansoshiya and Falgore Forests, which stretch into neighbouring Katsina and Kaduna States.

In his welcome address, Chairman Mustapha lauded the police for their swift intervention. “This meeting is timely. Our people are worried, but the presence of the police leadership today sends a strong signal that Rogo is not alone. We will continue to support all security efforts with resources and community mobilization,” he said.

District Head Alhaji Garba Bello urged unity and vigilance. “We must not let fear divide us. Our strength lies in our cooperation with the police. If you see something, say something,” he stated.

PCRC Chairman Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo emphasized grassroots collaboration, saying, “Security cannot be left to the police alone. Our communities must be part of the solution. I commend the Commissioner for reaching out to us directly.”

Malam Sulaiman Isah, a youth leader from the area, echoed similar sentiments: “Our forests have become a source of fear, but today, we see hope. We are ready to work with the authorities to secure our land.”

Responding to the issues raised, CP Ibrahim Bakori assured residents of the Command’s commitment to proactive policing. “We are not waiting for incidents to happen. We are taking steps now — deploying more personnel, enhancing patrols, and working closely with your local vigilantes and traditional rulers,” he said.

The Commissioner also highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing and community trust. “No security strategy works without the people. Your support, your voice, and your vigilance are what make our efforts effective,” he added.

The meeting concluded with a joint pledge by all participants to strengthen communication, support security initiatives, and foster peace and stability in Rogo and beyond.
