The Kano State Government has launched the distribution of food relief provided by the Dangote Foundation to 120,000 beneficiaries across the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Thursday Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who represented Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, assured residents that the aid would be distributed fairly and transparently.

“This initiative will go a long way in easing the burden on our people, especially in this sacred month,” Gwarzo said.

He also commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his generosity, describing the donation as a significant contribution to tackling hunger, particularly during Ramadan.

He further revealed that this year, the foundation would distribute 120,000 bags of 10kg rice across the 44 local government areas of the state.

“To ensure fairness in the distribution, the state government has set up a committee comprising government agencies, security bodies, the Hisbah Board, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and local government officials,” he added.

He urged all stakeholders involved in the process to ensure transparency so that the aid reaches the intended beneficiaries.

The flag-off ceremony, held at the Kano State Government House, marked the second time such an initiative had been undertaken to support low-income residents.

In her remarks, Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote called on those in charge of the distribution to handle the process with fairness and justice.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote also stated that his foundation plans to distribute one million bags of rice across the country.

The event was attended by government officials, representatives of pensioners, labour unions, small-scale traders, and community leaders, reaffirming the commitment to alleviating hardship among the people of Kano.
