The Ogun State Police Command has expressed concerns over a significant surge in reports of missing persons across the state.

According to Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson in a statement on Tuesday, the police have noticed an unprecedented rise in missing persons cases, affecting all age groups.

“We encourage everyone to prioritise their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security to avoid becoming a victim,” Odutola urged.

Odutola explained that only a small fraction of the missing individuals have been found, while many others have not returned home.

As a proactive measure, the police spokesperson said the police are committed to raising public awareness about this concerning trend.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo outlined essential measures and guidelines to keep residents informed about the most pressing issues.

Based on insights from rescued individuals, the Commissioner advised parents not to allow their children to use commercial transportation services with strangers.

Additionally, he encouraged restless youth to activate digital communication and sharing features on their mobile devices, especially when traveling or in moments of distress.

These measures aim to prevent further cases of missing persons and ensure public safety.

The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, prioritizing their safety above all.

For assistance or to report any cases of missing persons, the public can contact the police control room at 09164859299 or the Police Public Relations Department at 09159578888.
