The Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has called for more technology-driven teaching and learning in Nigerian schools, saying it will least to a boost in  education in line with Sustainable Development Goal Four, SDG-4.

This was disclosed in a set of recommendations issued by the body, wherein it also charged educators to embrace new technologies and pursue professional development.

The recommendations, released by TRCN’s Registrar, Prof Josiah Ajiboye, on Saturday, also stressed the importance of keeping up with the latest tools and teaching methods.

According to the TRCN, the use of technology in the classroom can greatly enhance the learning experience for students and help them acquire the skills needed to succeed in the digital age.

The recommendations stated: “Teachers should imbibe a culture of self-development and team learning through a positive attitude for learning, peer collaboration and a culture of trust and respect.

“Teachers should engage in lifelong learning be it formal or informal, personal or professional, to remain relevant to learners’ aspirations in a fast-changing global environment, for personal growth and to secure the integrity of the teaching profession,” it read in part.

Prof Ajiboye also stressed the need for stakeholders across the country to embrace and implement the recommendations made at the just-concluded 2023 online teachers conference tagged, “Promoting Community of Practice among Nigerian Teachers for Effective Service Delivery.”
