Heavy shootings have broke out Thursday night as operatives believed to be officers of the EFCC have laid siege to the Kogi state House in Abuja, demanding that the ex-governor Yahaya Bello surrenders. Africa Health Report AHR, has just gathered.
Earlier, AHR posted that contrary to reports in the media and social media on Thursday, saying that the embattled ex-Kogi state governor is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the commission had dismissed the reports, declaring, the report as “incorrect”.
“Media reports today that a former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello is in the holding facility of the, is incorrect.
“The Commission wishes to state that Bello is not in its custody”, a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity of the Commission, Dele Oyewale declares.
In the statement he shared on Thursday, the spokesman emphasized, “Bello, already declared wanted by the Commission for alleged N80.2billion money laundering charges, remains wanted with a subsisting warrant for his arrest”.
All efforts to speak with Oyewale proved futile.
