Unknown Gunmen Kill Guest in Ogun Hotel

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a lodger, Gideon Ebukwe by yet-to-be-identified gunmen at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode in the Sagamu Local Government area of the state.

The police public relations officer Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a statement released to press men in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The public relations officer said that at around  3.30 p.m., the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported an incident involving a suspected assassination.

According to Odutola Ebukwe was shot dead while trying to escape when he came under attack by the gunmen who stormed the hotel where he lodged as a guest.

The statement noted that despite breaking into the ceiling of the hotel to escape from the assailants, the gunmen still gunned him and took his belongings away.

Odutola said, “He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown”.

“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.

“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.

“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo”.

According to her the police have commenced an investigation to unravel the nature of the crime, if it was cult related.

She said that the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.
