French and Rwandan surgeons are operating on the liver and pancreas – RNA NEWS

Today, French and Rwandan surgeons operated on the liver and pancreas of three patients, and they are expected to operate on eight of the group of eighteen people they have diagnosed.

“They considered that these eight people presented an emergency to undergo the operation. Liver surgery can amputate a third or half of a patient’s liver. The part that remains regenerates quickly in two weeks and allows the patient to continue living. Such an operation is expensive. Usually, its cost is between $US 80 thousand and $US100 thousand. But the patients of this service resort to the usual insurance in force in Rwanda”, indicated the Head of the Service of Surgery at the Military Hospital of Kanombe, Dr Christian Niyonzima. (END)
