Police Arrest Seven Cult Suspects with Human Skull in Akwa Ibom

AKWA IBOM, Nigeria – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven suspected cultists linked to a violent attack on a student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

Police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John said the victim, who had renounced membership of the banned Ku Klux Klan Confraternity, was ambushed on August 25, 2025, left unconscious, and robbed of cash and valuables.

Acting on intelligence, police arrested Douglas Ambe Esikhene, Stephen Asukwo Effiong, Saviour Dany Akpan, Emmanuel Friday Umoh, Augustine Uduak Okon, Mary Ating Asukwo, and Itohowo Christopher Uko on August 28.

Recovered items included a fresh human skull, a locally made short gun, seven cartridges, and ritual substances.

The command said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other gang members.
