Kogi Commended for Strengthening Drug Supply Chain, Quality Control

KOGI, Nigeria – The Kogi State Government has been praised for improving its drug supply chain and regulatory framework, ensuring better access to quality medicines.

During a working visit to the Kogi State Drugs Management Agency in Lokoja, Coordinator, National Products Supplies Chain Management Programme,  Onokwu Celine, applauded the state for establishing a robust quality-control system and passing new Drug and Food Administration laws.

She called for increased funding, improved warehouses, and stronger governance systems to sustain progress.

“Effective data management is crucial for improving visibility and accountability in pharmaceuticals,” Celine noted, urging more investment in infrastructure.

Responding, Pharmacist Salamat Onize, Executive Secretary of the agency, assured that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration has prioritised healthcare.

“With full support from the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza, we are building a resilient supply chain for essential drugs,” she said, adding that governance reforms will soon be rolled out.
