NAFDAC Raids Kaduna Factory, Seizes £2.8m Illegal Herbal Medicines

KADUNA, Nigeria- The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down an illegal herbal medicine factory in Kaduna State and seized products worth £2.8 million.

In a statement on Sunday, the agency said its enforcement team, acting on intelligence, raided a facility in Mararaba Jos, Igabi Local Government Area, where it uncovered “unsanitary and substandard” production equipment.

According to NAFDAC, the confiscated products, branded under the name NURUL SHIFA, were unsafe for public consumption and will be destroyed.

“These products posed a significant risk to public health as their safety, quality, and efficacy could not be guaranteed,” the agency said.

The premises have been sealed, with investigations ongoing to identify those behind the illegal operation.

NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians from harmful products and vowed to prosecute offenders.
