Kaduna Government Accuses El-Rufai of Destabilisation Plot After Election

KADUNA, Nigeria – The Kaduna State Government has accused former governor, Nasir El-Rufai of plotting to destabilise the state through “provocation, manipulation, and incitement.”

Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Suleiman Shuaibu, in a statement on Monday, alleged that El-Rufai intensified disruptive activities after his allies lost the 16 August by-elections.

According to Shuaibu, the former governor convened “an illegal and chaotic meeting” on 30 August, which descended into violence.

He also faulted El-Rufai’s recent TV claims that government officials were bribing bandits, calling them “malicious lies aimed at undermining security efforts and legitimising criminality.”

Shuaibu said Governor Uba Sani’s administration had recorded gains against insecurity in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, and Kajuru, with several bandit leaders eliminated.

“No individual, no matter how powerful, will be allowed to destabilise Kaduna. The peace of the state is non-negotiable,” he warned.
