The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Borno State have reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, vowing to resist any attempt to destabilize the party’s stronghold in the state.
The declaration was made on Sunday during a critical stakeholders’ meeting held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Government House, Maiduguri.
The meeting brought together prominent figures within the APC including the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori; Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno; Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; former Governor Maina Ma’aji Lawan; former Nigerian Ambassadors Baba Ahmed Jidda and Dauda Danladi; members of the National and State Assemblies; Borno State House of Assembly Speaker and members; local government chairmen; and key government appointees.
In a 10-point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and jointly signed by the Borno State APC Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba, and State Secretary, Barrister Mustapha Loskuri, the stakeholders expressed “total and unalloyed loyalty” to the administration of President Tinubu and endorsed the “Renewed Hope Agenda” as a path to national progress.
The meeting also praised the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for his steadfast loyalty and service, urging him to continue promoting the president’s policies and praying that he be retained as Vice President in a potential second term.
On the home front, the stakeholders declared “total confidence” in Governor Zulum’s leadership and applauded his efforts to restore peace and development in the state, despite years of insurgency and terrorism.
The gathering affirmed that Borno would remain firmly within the APC, rejecting any form of political merger or defection to other parties. “Borno shall remain in APC — no merger or change of political party,” the communiqué read, urging members to resist divisive moves and uphold the party’s progressive ideals.
Additionally, the meeting cautioned against actions that could tarnish the image of the APC and called for the strengthening of internal democracy to ensure the party remains a dominant political force in Nigeria.
The stakeholders also appealed to the Federal Government to sustain oil exploration in the Northeast, particularly in Kolmani and along the shores of Lake Chad. They further urged investment in road infrastructure to bolster development and security across the region.
The meeting ended with a resounding call for unity, loyalty, and continuity within the APC in Borno State as the party prepares for future elections and governance responsibilities.
