The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to quality basic education in Nasarawa State through strengthened collaboration with the state government.
UBEC Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba stated this during a courtesy visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule in Lafia, according to a press release issued by UBEC’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, David Apeh, on Sunday in Abuja.
“Education is the foundation of national development. UBEC remains dedicated to working with Nasarawa State to enhance learning access for all children,” Garba said during the meeting.
The high-level UBEC delegation inspected UBEC-funded projects, including the Smart School in Lafia and the Second Chance School in Akwanga. During her visit, Garba observed students engaging in robotics demonstrations, underscoring the role of technology in modern education.
Governor Sule commended UBEC’s interventions, highlighting school renovations, teacher recruitment, and improved learning materials. “Nasarawa has consistently utilised UBEC’s grants effectively. We will continue prioritising education to address challenges like the rising number of out-of-school children,” he stated.
The governor also assured UBEC of the state’s support, including fast-tracking the Certificate of Occupancy for the commission’s North-Central Zonal Office.
