Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank has raised an alarm over an alleged plot to tamper with the recent Supreme Court judgment on the Rivers State case.
In a statement issued by on Tuesday, Frank accused some loyalists of a former Rivers State governor of attempting to “smuggle into the Judgment an aspect which was not decided” regarding the issue of defection, which is still pending at the Appeal Court and Federal High Court.
Frank described this move as a “desperate lobby” aimed at undermining the ongoing cases on defection. He emphasized that the issue of defection was not part of the original judgment and warned that allowing such tampering would “do irredeemable damage to our nation’s apex and respected Court.”
Frank urged the Supreme Court Chief Justice and the panel of justices to resist this alleged attempt and ensure that the integrity of the court is maintained.
“We are confident that the eminent jurist who delivered the Judgment knows the issues at stake and will not fail Nigerians by ensuring that a check is put on the Wike group’s political madness and desperation,” Frank said.
He reiterated that the issue of defection is still pending at the Appeal Court and Federal High Court, and any attempt to insert it into the judgment would be a desperate move to undermine the ongoing cases.
