At least 17 students lost their lives in a tragic fire outbreak at an Almajiri school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night.
The incident, which lasted for about three hours, also left several other students injured.
Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, stating that the injured victims are currently receiving medical attention.
According to Makama, an eyewitness described the fire as overwhelming, noting that emergency responders rushed to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the damage had already been severe.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, but investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
