In a decisive blow to terrorist operations, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, supported by the air component, conducted a successful clearance operation on January 17, 2025.

The coordinated assault targeted key terrorist hideouts along Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.

Among those neutralized in the operation was the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who was hiding with other combatants on the Fakai high ground.

The intensity of the troops’ firepower resulted in significant casualties among the terrorists and the destruction of a major logistics hub.

Several hostages held captive by Bello Turji were rescued during the operation. In a display of cowardice, Bello Turji reportedly fled the scene, abandoning his son and his remaining fighters.

In a related development, troops destroyed another terrorist stronghold belonging to a kingpin known as Idi Mallam in the Zango Kagara Forest.

During the encounter, three terrorists were neutralized, and three suspected collaborators were apprehended.

Among the items recovered were two machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and various other materials. Additionally, 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep were rescued.

The military’s ongoing offensive demonstrates its unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.

“Troops are sustaining the onslaught against the terrorists,” stated Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, on January 19, 2025.

This operation marks another critical step in the effort to restore peace and security to the region, with troops maintaining momentum in their fight against criminal elements.
