The Zamfara State government has commended the Nigerian Air Force for its successful airstrikes targeting bandits in Zurmi and Maradun Local Government Areas over the weekend.

In a statement, the government praised the effectiveness of the military operation but expressed deep regret over the unintended loss of civilian lives, including members of the local vigilante group, during an airstrike in Tungar Kara.

The government explained that the casualties were a result of a misidentification during the operation, describing the incident as an unfortunate mistake.

Despite the tragic outcome, the government reaffirmed its unwavering support for the military in the ongoing fight against banditry. It also pledged to continue providing necessary assistance to ensure the restoration of peace and security across the state.
