EXCLUSIVE! Quantum Gets Global Focus as US, UK, China Deploy System to Complex Problems Solving

Indication emerged Saturday that the United Nations, UN is considering global recognition for quantum mechanics as countries push for declaration of International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in 2025. There are a lot of conversations around the global recognition of quantum mechanics, said a report. The hope is that complex problems will be solved at lightning speeds – and there will be huge innovations in areas like medicine, environmental sciences, food production and cyber-security.

Ghana, a country in Africa has begun the lobby with proposals that 2025 be declared the UN International Year of Quantum Science and Technology – on the 100th anniversary of the discovery of modern quantum mechanics. It was learnt that Ghana is being backed by Mexico, a south American country to spearhead the campaign.

Researchers and big tech companies from across the world – including China, the US, the UK, Australia and South Africa – are now racing to develop quantum technologies, including quantum computers and ultra-precising measuring and sensor devices.

Quantum mechanics emerged from studies to uncover how ultra-tiny particles – the most fundamental bits of matter, energy and light – interact with each other to make up the world.

It led to the development of the internet, solar cells, and global navigation satellite systems.

With full global acceptance to quantum mechanics, Africa’s fast-growing population will be the world’s largest workforce by 2040, according to the UN.

Quantum computing can potentially enhance AI’s capabilities by removing the limitations of data size, complexity, and the speed of problem solving.”

Researchers are already working on enhancing current AI methods in research by applying quantum computing methods to protein structure prediction. (With Agency Report)
