The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has revealed that planned maintenance work will lead to temporary power disruptions in certain areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the company emphasized the importance of the maintenance work for optimal performance of power infrastructure.
The exercise is scheduled to start on Saturday, December 28, with a four-hour power interruption from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation. Mbah stated, “During this time, Abuja DisCo will be unable to provide electricity to customers in Gwagwalada and nearby areas for just four hours.”
“On Sunday, December 29, maintenance work will take place at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. This will impact regions including Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.”
Mbah assured the public that the interruptions are essential for improving the reliability of the power supply. “TCN regrets any inconvenience this might cause, particularly during the year-end and holiday season. Nonetheless, carrying out maintenance as planned is crucial for the best performance of power equipment,” she stated.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of the power interruptions.
