The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has concluded a two-day training program for 20 youths in Ekiti State, equipping them with modern skills and practices to boost livestock farming.
According to FIRS Chairman, Zaccheus Adedeji on Tuesday, the initiative aims to create jobs, eradicate hunger, and enhance food security.
Represented by Mrs. Benedicta Akpana, Adedeji emphasized that the program, organized in partnership with JustSnails Africa, will help beneficiaries become entrepreneurs, reducing insecurity and unemployment.
The training, which drew participants from the 16 local governments in Ekiti State, is designed to promote self-reliance among youths.
Adedeji noted that the government cannot provide for everyone, encouraging individuals to take initiative.
“Change is the only constant thing. People know FIRS for collecting taxes, but thanks to the new leadership under Dr. Adedeji, we are also giving back to society. We don’t only collect; we also give.”, the FIRS boss said.
He explained that by empowering youths, FIRS aims to contribute to economic growth, increase the Gross Domestic Product, and foster responsible citizenship.
The FIRS initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable development and reduce unemployment.
Similar programs have been launched in other states, including Oyo and Ondo, targeting potential livestock farmers.
By investing in youth empowerment, FIRS is helping to create a more prosperous future for Nigeria.
