The Lagos State Government has cracked down on several establishments, including churches, hotels, and entertainment venues, for violating noise pollution regulations and other environmental infractions.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) carried out the enforcement action, sealing off multiple locations across the state, including Shomolu, Oniru Victoria Island, Jakande-Lekki, and Lekki-Epe Expressway.

According to LASEPA as disclosed on its X (formerly Twitter), the infractions pose significant risks to public health and safety.

The affected businesses were found to be contributing to excessive noise levels and engaging in harmful environmental practices, prompting swift intervention.

“The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency intensified its enforcement operations by sealing off several establishments across various locations in the State,” LASEPA stated.

The establishments sealed by LASEPA include Celestial Church, Zodiac Lounge, Pixel Park Studio, The Lord’s Chosen Church, and several hotels and restaurants.

General Manager Dr. Tunde Ajayi emphasized that noise pollution and environmental violations disrupt community peace and health.

“Today’s action demonstrates our zero-tolerance policy towards defaulters and our resolve to enforce environmental laws strictly,” he stated.

LASEPA’s enforcement actions reflect the agency’s commitment to maintaining a healthy environment. Ajayi stressed the need for compliance with regulations and reaffirmed LASEPA’s dedication to a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.

The affected areas include residential and commercial zones, highlighting the widespread nature of the problem. LASEPA’s crackdown aims to address the root causes of noise pollution and environmental degradation.
