NBA Pledges to Collaborate with ICPC in Fight Against Corruption

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has pledged to work with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to combat corruption in the country.

The Chairman of the National Litigation Committee (NLT) of the NBA, Barr. Vincent Otaokpokpu, made this commitment during a visit to the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu on Monday.

According to a press release signed by spokesperson of ICPC, Demola Bakare on Monday, In his statement, Barr. Otaokpokpu told the ICPC Chairman that the committee seeks to collaborate with the Commission to fight corruption while protecting the right of its members.

“He told the Honourable Chairman that the committee seeks to collaborate with the commission on how to join forces against corruption, while protecting the interest and rights of their members” Bakare noted

Dr. Aliyu welcomed the NBA’s commitment to collaboration and advise them not to hesitate to draw the attention of the commission whenever there are concerns.

“Draw the attention of the Commission whenever there are concerns, as ICPC is committed to looking into such issues objectively and addressing them accordingly” he emphasized

Dr. Aliyu further stressed the importance of mutual respect and understanding between lawyers and anti-corruption officers

“ICPC encourage mutual, professional respect and understanding in line with the law” he said.
