Troops Kill over 70 Terrorists in Borno Air Strikes

The Nigerian Armed Forces have escalated their offensive against terrorists and insurgents across the country, with coordinated air and ground operations delivering significant blows to enemy ranks.

In a statement released by the Director of Defence Media Operations,

Major General Edward Buba on Saturday, the military confirmed the neutralization of over 70 extremists during air strikes on November 6 in Borno State.

“Targeted air strikes at KWALLARAM and ARAINNA CIKI islands led to the death of over 70 terrorists,” Buba said. The strikes are part of ongoing efforts under Operation HADIN KAI, aimed at dismantling insurgent strongholds.

“In a week of intensified operations, military personnel also killed 169 insurgents, arrested 641 individuals, and apprehended 40 oil theft suspects. Additionally, 181 hostages were rescued, while troops seized an array of weaponry, including 106 AK47 rifles, 192 assorted firearms, and nearly 3,000 rounds of ammunition.”

General Buba said in the Niger Delta, forces uncovered and destroyed multiple illegal oil refining sites, including 20 cooking ovens and 42 boats, alongside recovering stolen crude oil and refined products. “The operations have caused significant disruption to the terrorists’ operations, forcing them into desperate recruitment efforts,” Buba noted.

The Nigerian military vowed to continue these offensives, asserting that the fight will persist until all terrorist threats are eradicated. “Our commitment remains unwavering,” General Buba added.
