Breaking: Fire Guts Lagos Plank Market

A devastating fire broke out at the Oko Baba plank market in Ebute Metta, Lagos State, on Sunday afternoon.

The inferno ravaged the market, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) swiftly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze.

Adedeji Olalekan, tweeting as #Stylomedia, reported that the fire had also engulfed nearby shanties, saying, “Okobaba Street is on fire now, all the shanties are burning.”

LASEMA’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident and revealed that emergency responders were conducting a search and rescue operation.

Okunbor stated, “LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire Unit, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service are in search and rescue operation at Oko Baba plank market by Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta.”

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but officials are working to bring the situation under control and prevent further damage.
