The Nigeria Customs Service Area II Command has announced that it processed metric tons of goods for export worth N9.4 trillion in 2023.
This declaration was made by Area Comptroller Baba Imam during the 2024 International Customs Day event held in Onne, Rivers State.
Emphasising the importance of collaboration with stakeholders and partners, Imam stated, “There cannot be an effective and efficient customs operation and procedures, and there cannot be effective trade facilitation without engaging our partners and stakeholders that are germane to our operations.
“Trade facilitation, which is primarily one of our mandates, cannot be visible without building a good rapport with our partners.
“Customs cannot operate in isolation. The inter-agency, inter-departmental collaboration is key and germane to our operation and success.”
He explained further that through stakeholder engagement, synergy, collaboration, and intelligence sharing, the command achieved a revenue of 313 billion naira in 2023, surpassing the target set for the year by 30%.
“It processed over 1.9 million metric tons of goods for export, with a Free On-Board value of 10.1 billion dollars, equivalent to 9.4 trillion naira.”
Imam expressed the command’s determination to build on these achievements in 2024 and assured that they would continue to discharge their mandates to enhance the country’s prosperity.
